Love Hunts

Editing

Love Hunts was exhilarating foray into the world of comedy editing.

Unlike any film project I have taken on previously, Love Hunts taught me to appreciate and lean into minutiae of editing by introducing me to . Comedy is timing, and learning how to effectively utilise pacing to build tension for a satisfying pay off was a core aspect of my experience editing this film.

Under the guidance of director Cameron Duncan, I learnt how to take my editing to the next level through creative uses of reaction shots, seamless transitions, and the interweaving of slow and fast paced sequences.

Spreadsheets

Due to the scope of Love Hunts, a spreadsheet with every shot plus it’s timecode was kept so that at a glance, myself, Cameron, or any other member of the post team could know exactly what was happening and provide feedback, notes, or suggestions on the edit.

This spreadsheet was particularly essential during the final stages of the edit as a guide for Sound and Colour and what work needed to be done. It also provided a record of what sound FX and grade was used where and how.

By picture lock, Love Hunts had over 250 shots.
